This is the Ahnemann’s personal home theater. They wanted to transform the seldom used game room into a more useful space and something that would bring friends and family together.
A wall was added to close in the existing open space of their game room. All existing lighting, electrical and air conditioning was redone for this space. The existing sloped ceiling was converted to a cove ceiling where LED color changing lights were added to effect. The existing ceiling itself was replaced with a. fiberoptic star ceiling that twinkles like real lights. The lighting for the space comes from small recessed lights in the cove ceiling. To add a touch of class to the room, picture frame trim was installed and painted with a gold flake paint. A high-top bar was added to the rear of the room with room for 3-4 people to sit and eat a meal while watching a movie.
The technology in the room is top of the line. A 4K JVC projector provides a true 4K picture for the 125″ cinescope 2.53:1 screen. The sound is provided by 9.1 speakers which includes 2 subwoofers, 4 overhead Dolby Atmos speakers, front and rear speakers and an in-wall center channel. The lighting, sound, AC and all aspects of the theater are automated and controlled with a smart controller. All equipment resides in a custom-made rack that I recessed into the wall at the rear of the room, and the back of the rack is accessible via an attic space behind the room. The rack has automated ventilation just like the projector box has.
Watching a movie in this room is truly a breathtaking experience. The room feel cozy, yet open and inviting when you walk in.
We prefer to watch movies at home rather than going to the commercial theaters. The convenience of not having to leave home to enjoy a true cinema experience is amazing. We are constantly impressed with the picture and sound quality of the room!
